| New Logo for First Insurance Co. Only Change from Acquisition |

First Insurance Co. of Hawaii has a new owner but the company’s clients shouldn’t notice any significant changes — except for the new logo unveiled on Tuesday.
The acquisition of the Honolulu-based insurer by Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. closed on Tuesday. Japan-based Tokio previously owned 50 percent of the company, with the other half owned by Continental Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Chicago-based CNA Financial Corp.
While Tokio now owns 100 percent of Hawaii’s largest insurance company, the company will maintain the same leadership, number of employees, and daily operations, First Insurance spokesman Steve Tabussi said.
“This allows us to have a unified line of sight with a single owner,” Tabussi said. “We have a clear direction and clear expectations.”
First Insurance Co.’s revised logo is a more contemporary take on its old one, with the tree leaves, branches and trunk and company font adopting a new look. It was last revised in 1973.
