| HEMIC names Martin Welch CEO of Hawaii workers comp insurer |

The Hawaii Employers’ Mutual Insurance Co. has named Martin J. Welch CEO and senior underwriting executive of the Honolulu-based workers compensation insurance company.
Welch, who was named CEO at HEMIC’s board of directors meeting on Tuesday, was also named president of the company’s subsidiary, HEMIC Insurance Managers Inc.
He will replace HEMIC CEO Bob Dove, who is retiring.
“HEMIC has had an extraordinarily successful first 15 years. The Board’s goal was to assure that the next 15 years is at least as successful,” HEMIC Chairman Barry Taniguchi said in a statement. “We are convinced that Marty will make that happen.”
Welch has more than 30 years of experience in the workers compensation and commercial property and casualty insurance industry. He was most recently president and chief operating officer for Employers Holdings Inc. (NYSE: EIG), a publicly traded workers compensation carrier based in Reno, Nev., and prior to that was with the former Wausau Insurance organization.
