Fukeda To Retire From DTRIC Insurance Group
Friday, December 20, 2013
DTRIC Insurance Group President and CEO Ernest H. Fukeda, Jr. will retire from the Honolulu-based property and casualty company in mid-January, DTRIC announced Tuesday. A replacement has not been named.

The DTRIC announcement came less than three hours after First Insurance Company of Hawaii announced that its president and CEO, Allen Uyeda, is also retiring next year.

Fukeda began working at DTRIC in 2008 as its chief operating officer, and was promoted to president and CEO in 2011.

“I am proud to have continued that great legacy that (founder and executive chairman) Ron Toyofuku established here at DTRIC,” Fukeda said in a statement. “While my drive and passion remain strong, I have come to the realization that it is the right time for me to begin a new chapter in my life. It has been a privilege to work with such great individuals, and I thank them for allowing me to be a part of the DTRIC ohana for these past five-and-a-half memorable years.”

Fukeda’s retirement will be effective Jan. 15, and then he will work with DTRIC in a consulting role until a replacement is found. Toyofuku and executive team members will oversee day-to-day operations in the interim.

DTRIC Insurance Co. is the fifth-largest property and casualty insurance company in the state.
